Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- ABET / AET qualification or Grade 10, as recognised by SAQA
- Proven driving experience
- A valid driver’s licence
- A Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form
- Strong planning and organisational skills
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of procedures for operating government motor vehicles
- Knowledge of completing vehicle logbooks and trip authorities
- Ability to obtain fuel and basic vehicle services, including minor fault reporting
- Familiarity with policies regulating the correct use and storage of government vehicles
- Knowledge of registry and messenger duties
- Ability to ensure proper vehicle safekeeping, retrieval, and compliance with prescripts
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Driving light and medium motor vehicles to transport officials, documents, and goods
- Delivering and collecting mail and departmental documents
- Performing routine vehicle maintenance and reporting mechanical defects promptly
- Completing all required vehicle records and logbooks accurately
- Providing messenger and clerical support services
- Assisting with registry duties, including filing, copying, and faxing documents
